TRAINER Barry Baldwin will consider backing up Flying Home at Eagle Farm on Wednesday following his strong win at the same track last Saturday.

Baldwin said Flying Home had pulled up well on Sunday, increasing the chances that the five-year-old would contest the Class 6 Plate (1823m) at the popular Exhibition Wednesday meeting.

"I want to do a blood count and go right over the horse to make sure he has come through the run well," Baldwin said. "And I want to have a good chat to his owner to get his thoughts.

"But, if there is no obvious problem, I can't see why we wouldn't have a good think about the race. As one of the vets said to me this morning, you wouldn't have thought twice about it in the old days."

Flying Home was perfectly ridden by in-form Chris Munce on Saturday in the McGrath Real Estate Class 6 Plate (2200m). The master of staying races took Flying Home to the lead after the gelding was caught wide on the first turn and set a solid tempo, enabling Flying Home to showcase his staying skills.

"That was a nice ride and a good run," Baldwin said.

"I really enjoyed watching Chris get a treble. It's a reward for his skill and for all of the work he puts in."

Baldwin has not ruled out a crack at the Newcastle Cup with Flying Home but only if the son of Flying Spur continues to make progress.

Saturday's victory continued the stable's good run, providing a winner on the opening two Saturdays of the new season.
