| TRAINER Barry Baldwin says Hold Me Tight will be set for the Adrian Knox Stakes on April 13 after plans to start the talented filly on Golden Slipper Day were abandoned. Baldwin said Hold Me Tight was considered a chance to run in the Vinery Stakes against the likes of Norzita but connections expected the Refuse To Bend filly would be better placed the following week. Hold Me Tight has been unlucky in her two placings since a sharp all-the-way win at Eagle Farm in February. Hold Me Tight sat off the lead in her last two races when a modest speed impacted on her chances of running down the leaders. But Baldwin said he is happy that the filly has proven she will settle during races, improving her chances in the longer races for which she is being targeted. "We'll see how she goes in the Adrian Knox before we decide on her next start but she has a few options," Baldwin said. "You can make a case that she has been unlucky in each of her career starts. But I've been really impressed with how she lets down in the straight. I'm keen to see where we can take her." Baldwin has two runners on a wet track at Doomben on Saturday. Pandora Charm will contest the Children's Health Foundation QTIS 2YO Hcp (1010m) while the durable Gold Shears will line up in the Jae My Holdings Open Hcp (1615m). "Gold Shears may not have appreciated the short back-up last time so she may be better placed this time in," Baldwin said. "I've been very happy with Pandora Charm's progress although this will be another challenge." |
