Former NSW apprentice Tiffany Jeffries is set to make Queensland her new home and will celebrate when she makes her riding debut at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
The mature-aged Jeffries is on loan to top Eagle Farm trainer Barry Baldwin who is tipping the 24-year-old will prove a big hit riding on the provincial circuit in Queensland.
Jeffries hails from Parkes where she was indentured to her mother Sharon before out riding her claim after booting home 75 winners.
However, under local regulations Jeffries is still eligible to claim three kilograms on the provincial circuit in Queensland which prompted her decision to join the Baldwin stable.
"She's a real little goer and drove all the way from Parkes by herself to join my stable," Baldwin said.
"She's had 20 city rides in NSW and rode a winner at Randwick but she's now lost her claim in NSW."
Jeffries has the right pedigree to be a successful jockey as her grand-father is Kevin Langby who was the No 1 rider for legendary trainer, the late Tommy Smith.
Jeffries stays in regular contact with Langby, who rode a host of champions during his illustrious career including Australian icon, Gunsynd.
"Tiffany is a very good worker and will go a long way up here," Baldwin said.
"She'll be available t ride at all the provincial centres from the Gold Coast to right up north at Rockhampton and Townsville."
Jeffries has two rides at Eagle Farm aboard the Baldwin-trained Sagacious Lady in the QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate (1200m) and Darker Charger for trainer John Meagher in the Class Two Handicap (1200m) .
Meanwhile Baldwin also is hoping for success with his two runners, Mr Light Blue and Gold Shears in the 1800-metre Open Handicap at the Gold Coast.
Mr Light Blue, an Anthony Allen mount, has a win and two placings from his past five starts while Gold Shears was placed at Eagle Farm last month before his latest ninth to Tokamak in a 1600-metre Listed race at Eagle Farm on March 6.
"Both have done well since their last starts but I'm hoping the track will dry out for both of them," Baldwin said.
"There doesn't look to be much pace in the race but there's only seven horses in it and I've got two good chances."
