LOCK'S Legend and Flying Home will back up at Eagle Farm on Saturday, chasing the wins that eluded them at Doomben seven days earlier. Trainer Barry Baldwin is pleased with the progress of his two runners since their Doomben races and has decided they are ready to race again. Lock's Legend was beaten in the final stride last Saturday after working hard early and leading the field into the Doomben straight. Flying Home finished fourth after a luckless run from back in the field. Michael Cahill will ride both horses, reuniting with Lock's Legend in the Sky Racing 3YO Hcp (1200m) after he speared the son of Bel Danoro to a dominant win at Ipswich three weeks ago. "He's pulled up well and there's not really another suitable race for him for several weeks so we had to go to this Saturday," Baldwin said of Lock's Legend. "I was very pleased with his run last week and it would have been great if he hung on and won but he showed us what he could do." Flying Home has been without luck in two of his last three runs and Baldwin said he was keen to get the son of Flying Spur back to the wider stretches of Eagle Farm in the Goa Get Noticed Open Hcp (2100m). "He's drawn a bad gate again but it's only a small field so that shouldn't worry him," Baldwin said. "It would have been interesting to see how he raced with more luck last week but this time he'll hopefully get an uninterrupted run and we know how he can finish off. An open race isn't ideal for him because he's eligible for much easier but this race is on at the right time." Flying Home charged strongly in the last 100m at Doomben but he had spotted the winner too much start. Baldwin will consider whether Flying Home will head for a short spell depending on Saturday's performance. Gold Shears will attempt another Eagle Farm victory in the Mitty's Open Hcp (1500m) with Tim Bell to take the ride. Gold Shears was succesful at the track two starts ago. |
