Glenn Davis, November 30, 2012 Barry Baldwin is hoping the omens are right for Mr Light Blue to give him his second win in the Listed Recognition Stakes at Eagle Farm on Saturday. It's been a long time between drinks for Baldwin who last won he Recognition Stakes in 1992 with his former top sprinter, Baggio. Baggio also finished third in the 1600-metre feature two years later. Mr Light Blue was a last start third to Jet Style in the Listed Brisbane Handicap (1600m) at Eagle Farm on November 17 and Baldwin is supremely confident he can turn the tables. Baldwin has tried to win the Recognition many times during his long and highly distinguished career and was also placed with Daldiere in 1983. "I'm hoping the omens are right for Mr Light Blue," Baldwin said. "I won this race with Baggio. He was a grey just like Mr Light Blue. "I'm very confident he'll be hard to beat. His last run was very good. "He ran third on a wet track which he doesn't like. He looked to be struggling but he got to the line really well." Baldwin also is hoping Mr Light Blue can provide part-owner, well known artist Brian Malt, with a timely pick-up. "It would be nice to see Mr Light Blue win for his owners, particularly Brian," Baldwin said. "Brian hasn't been in the best of health lately but I'm sure a win will lift his spirits." Mr Light Blue, who will be ridden by Jim Byrne, could earn an interstate trip if he's successful for the seventh time in his career. "If he wins he might run in the (Listed) Bernborough Handicap or I might look at going down for the Summer Cup or even the Villiers in Sydney," Baldwin said. The Baldwin stable won with Croatian Quality at Doomben on Wednesday.
